Format for Papers
Type all papers for this class.
Keep a one-inch margin on all sides.
Indent each new paragraph using the tab key on your computer. DO NOT put additional spaces (that is, don’t hit “Return/Enter”) in between paragraphs when the paper is double spaced (if the paper is single spaced, do this).
Double space all writing unless specified otherwise.
In the upper right-hand corner of your first page, type your name, course number and time, and the date submitted (on separate lines).
Number all pages after the first page and put your last name in the upper right hand corner of EVERY page. (e.g. Marlow 2)
Center the paper’s title following the heading (see #5). Do not underline the title or put quotes around it unless it is borrowed from another source.
Always give credit to any sources you use by citing them in your writing using MLA documentation style. For assistance, please consult any of the following sources: http://www.strose.edu/Library/pdf/li_hdts.htm, Prentice Hall Reference Guide by Muriel Harris, visit the Writing Center (2nd floor of St. Joseph’s Hall).
Staple the pages together.
Proofread CAREFULLY. Use spell-check, but don’t rely on it. Spell-check is hear to stay, so their.
Please DO NOT put your paper in anything (folder, plastic cover, binder, etc.) unless required to do so.
When you submit a final essay/portfolio version, include with it all the rough drafts, notes, outlines, etc, AND photocopies of all the sources you quoted or paraphrased.
